Folklore
Primrose has been associated with youth, love, and protection in European folklore. It was often planted near doorways to ward off evil spirits and invite good fortune into the home. In Celtic traditions, primroses were believed to open the door to the fairy realm, especially when gathered in small bunches and left on thresholds during spring festivals.

Medicinal
Traditionally used for its calming and soothing properties. Primrose has been used in herbal remedies to ease headaches, support sleep, and reduce anxiety. The flowers and roots were also sometimes used to treat coughs, colds, and mild inflammation.

Time of Year
February – May
Primrose blooms in early spring, often appearing while winter is still fading. Its soft yellow (and sometimes pink or purple) flowers are a sign of the changing season and are among the earliest sources of nectar for pollinators.
